The torso movement is unusually restricted, which probably indicates more than just being almost a year old. It doesn't play great with all its accessories, but the essentials are fine and the figure greatly benefits from being able to just focus on being the best action figure it can. Overall rating: Very Good
Souchaku Henshin Series GE-40
Though inferior in sculpt and a little bit of articulation to its Figuarts successor, this is balanced by being easier and more fun to actually play with, carrying no worry of breaking something while simply exercising the design's gimmick. Too bad it can't make all the attack modes. Overall rating: Good.
As is typical of SH Figuarts, at its core is a fantastic action figure. But the defining gimmick is realized in perhaps the worst way possible. Overall rating: Could Have Been Better.
Souchaku Henshin Series GE-31 (Toys R Us Japan exclusive)
The closest in spirit to the Den-O engineering model all in one package. But I'm afraid of the chrome finish because it's just so easy to damage. Despite minor points in its favor, I don't want to recommend this over the individual versions of Den-O's major forms. Overall rating: Good
Souchaku Henshin Series Hyper Hobby Exclusive
As befitting a magazine exclusive, it's of very limited general interest. But as incredibly unnecessary recolors go, this has a new part and it's a recolor of a really nice figure. Overall rating: Very Good
Souchaku Henshin Series GE-30
Very visually distinctive, but this example at least has poor paint quality, and tends to play worse than usual with its main accessory. Overall rating: Good
Souchaku Henshin Series GE-28
The near-Figuarts quality Momotaros is the real draw to this set, though of the two ways to get Den-O Plat Form, this is also the less expensive. Both are solid figures, but suffer for lacking actual accessories. Overall rating: Very Good
Souchaku Henshin Series GE-32
Rare to the point of being priced beyond its worth. It doesn't do anything wrong other than being mostly unremarkable, and so it's really completionist fodder. Overall rating: Good.
Souchaku Henshin Series GE-27
Great execution of the gimmick, solid value for your money, little of worth to complain about. Definitely worth considering if you only buy one Souchaku Henshin figure. Overall rating: Excellent.
Souchaku Henshin Series GE-29
Staggering amounts of extra paint applications help cover that this is largely a recolored Sword Form. But did it have to be painted so hideous?! Overall rating: Very Good.
Souchaku Henshin Series GE-21
An unintrusive armor gimmick on a great base figure makes for a solid package with only one real fault to complain about. Overall rating: Excellent.
Souchaku Henshin Series GD-39
Not as advanced as Figuarts, but the gimmick is unintrusive and in this case makes it one of the most design-accurate figures you can get. Overall rating: Excellent.
